CULTURAL COMPLEX

‘Architecture’ and ‘interaction’ bound through design process

Manifestation of concepts to Reality

TYPOLOGY: Space design

ROLE:  Problem definition, User research & analysis, case studies, concept formulation, spatial analysis, architectural drawings, 3-D visualization, physical modeling

TOOLS: Autocad, Photoshop, Indesign, Sketchup, Lumion

THE CHALLENGE

How can we enhance the social relevance of beliefs, values, and symbols of a particular society through architecture?

The project ideology attempted to be progressive, in tune with today’s times, and respecting the craft and cultural centricity of the area. The design solution, therefore, is a conversation between the past and the present, acknowledgment of the traditional and its adaptation in contemporary times, in concept and in realization.

VISION

  • Promoting the cultural unity of the country

  • Providing avenues for creative expression and learning to the younger generation.

  • Serving conventional and contemporary shifts in art and lifestyle.

  • Improving the quality of life of young people by making them sensitive to what is aesthetically and socially relevant.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

During the design process, the layout of the cultural complex evolved organically from the commercial, cultural, social and leisurely interactions of people.

The built environment is an interpretative collage, a gesture saluting the unique traditional architecture of the country. Adequate daylighting, proper air circulation through cross ventilation further adds the dimension of comfort to the design. Its articulation has been realized through a contemporary interpretation of traditional elements of arches and Jaalis.
